How to Remove the Send Now Link for Documents in Icon View Using the MicroStrategy Web SDK 9.4.1

The example provided in this document is provided “as-is” to the user and assumes that the user:

  • Can program, compile (e.g. javac, jikes, etc.), and execute Java programs
  • Can configure environment variables (e.g. JAR files, property files, etc.)
  • Have all the necessary tools to create Java applications (JDK, IDE, etc.)
  • Has access to the Strategy SDK documentation.
  • Has read the customization warning at the bottom of this document

PREREQUISITES:

For the sample to work, the Strategy Web JAR files must be accessible by the Java Runtime
Environment. The Strategy Web JAR files can be found under:

  • Strategy Web Universal (JSP): {web_root}/WEB-INF/lib directory.
  • Strategy Web (.NET): Program Files\Common Files\Strategy directory.

Note:

More elaborate programs will require additional library files and are out of the scope of this document.

Useres can remove the 'Send Now' link which is displayed below from reports and documents in  the icon view, This customization removes the Send Now option from Documents. A different logic can be implemented to remove this icon from specific reports, documents, etc.

Below is a screenshot of this feature.

After the customization users can't render this 'Send Now' option for Documents.

Users can perform this customization by adding a custom transform to 'FolderStyleIcon' style in the Web Customization Editor that extends the FolderViewTransform class. More detailed steps are provided below:

With the Web Customization Editor:

  1. Open the Web Customization Editor and create a new plugin
  2. Navigate to Appkcation Settings tab > Strategy Web Configuration > Styles
  3. Right-click any Style and select Create Transform
  4. On the Transform Creation Wizard, type the required inofrmation. Make sure the Superclass is FolderViewTransform then click Next
  5. Check  the checkbox next to void renderSendNowInfo(MarkupOutput out, WebObjectInfo object, boolean renderLinkAsText) then click Finish
  6. Inside renderSendNowInfo method, add this code:

     if(object.getType() == EnumDSSXMLObjectTypes.DssXmlTypeDocumentDefinition){
            	return;
            }else{
            	super.renderSendNowInfo(out, object, renderLinkAsText);
            }

 The transform code should now look like this:

  public void renderSendNowInfo(com.Strategy.web.beans.MarkupOutput out, com.Strategy.web.objects.WebObjectInfo object, boolean renderLinkAsText) {
        if(object.getType() == EnumDSSXMLObjectTypes.DssXmlTypeDocumentDefinition){
        	return;
        }else{
        	super.renderSendNowInfo(out, object, renderLinkAsText);
        }
    }

7. Save the Transform
8. Go back to the Styles  folder in the Applications Settings tab  and look for FolderStyleIcon
9. Double click FolderStyleIcon
10. In the Transform field click Change
11. Look for the name of the custom transform created in step 4.
12. Click OK  and Save the changes then restart the Web Server.
