KB40629: Subfolders from the All objects navigation pane will disappear when a Report is set to navigate to a specific folder in MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1.

Subfolders from the All objects navigation pane will disappear when a Report is set to navigate to a specific folder in MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1.

SYMPTOM:
A user sets Report Web Browsing options for a report within Strategy Web 9.4.1. When in tree view mode, the subfolders within the designated folder will disappear, however the objects inside the folders will display as if they belonged to the parent folder, like shown below.

Notice how the shortcut to the Year attribute is inside the folder "1" on the left, while the same folder doesn't display on the right.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. In Strategy Developer 9.4.1, create a Folder.
  2. Inside that folder, create 2 subfolders: 1 and 2.
  3. Place an object in each of these subfolders such as shortcuts to attributes.
  4. Create a report and set the 'Report Web Browsing Options' under the 'Data' menu option to point to the folder created in step 1.
  5. Open the same report in design mode through Strategy Web 9.4.1.
  6. Having the All Objects browsing pane displaying in Tree View mode, navigate within the designated folder. it will only display the shortcuts.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Web 9.4.1.

ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy Web 9.4.1 Hotfix 2. Upgrade to that version to take advantage of this fix.

WORKAROUND:
Toggling between list and tree view will display the correct folder structure again.
