KB40663: How to add objects to the Report Builder Object Template in MicroStrategy Developer

Stefan Zepeda

This article notes how the report builder object template can be modified to suit different workflows

The Report Builder Object Template allows a user to select attributes, metrics and filters to place on a report via prompts that are preset on the object template. The template is static in that, by default, it only allows attributes metrics and filters on the report. However, it is possible to alter the template to add other types of objects users see when using the Report Builder. This can be done by editing the object template from the object template folder. For example if it is desired to add object prompts when using report builder the steps below can be used.

1. Create a third object prompt that retrieves all object prompts in the project.
2. Access the Report Builder template in the Object Template folder.
3. Add the object prompt to the report objects window.

Now end users are able to use the report builder template and have the option to select object prompts.
