KB40942: The Preset Configuration in the MicroStrategy Mobile Application only Applies when Deleting and Reinstalling MicroStrategy Mobile 9.2.x-10.6 for iOS

Guidance for controlling the installation behavior when a customized version of MicroStrategy Mobile is installed on an iOS device with an older version of MicroStrategy Mobile.

When compiling a rebranded version of the Strategy Mobile application, one of the options available to the user is to preconfigure the server connections by adding the configuration information within the "Preferences.xml" file. Users may notice that some settings, such as the homescreen, may not be properly updated on the application until the app is removed from the device/simulator and reinstalled.
This occurs because the application, by default, will only apply the configuration during a clean install. There are two parameters that can be adjusted to change this functionality:

UpdateExistingPreferences (921m Patch11 and newer)
When true, the baked configuration will be applied and will replace the current configuration only if the CID of the current configuration is the same as the CID of the baked configuration and the cntr attribute within the baked configuration is greater than the cntr attribute of the current configuration.

OverrideExistingPreferences (921m Patch 18 and newer)
When true, the baked configuation will be applied and replace the current configuration if the CID of the current configuraton is not the same as the CID of the baked configuration, regardless of the cntr atttribute of either configuration. If the CID's are the same, then the UpdateExistingPreferences and the cntr attribute will determine whether the configuration is applied or not. This is to prevent the configuration from being updated every time the app is restarted.

Strategy 9.4.x-10 Mobile
These preferences can be configured using the MSTRCustomizations.plist file:
MicroStrategy customizations properties file

For more information about these settings, refer the MSDL:
Customizing Configuration Workflow

Earlier versions
These preferences can be configured in the info.plist file for both the iPad and iPhone configurations.
