KB409555: A selector in the Shared Page Header does not drive the targets on the first attempt for a document with 3 or more layouts sharing the header in MicroStrategy Mobile 9.4.1 Update 2 for iOS.

This document discusses a known issue that a selector in the Shared Page Header does not drive the targets on the first attempt for a document in MicroStrategy iOS Mobile app.

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Web 9.4.1, users that created documents with multiple layouts can enable a property called 'Use shared Page Header/Footer' to display the same Header and footer across all layouts. However, if a selector is in the shared page header of a document that has at least 3 layouts, it will not apply the selection to the target the first time an element is selected, as shown below:

Notice how the selector is now pointing to Aaby, but the grid still shows all Customers. The selector works properly after the first attempt, after the layout is switched, or if there are less than 3 layouts.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

To reproduce the issue in Strategy Tutorial, follow these steps:

  1. Create a document with a grid in the Body section or Detail Header section.
  2. Go to Document Properties > Layouts, and enable 'Use shared Page Header/Footer' .
  3. Create an attribute element selector in the Page Header, and target the grid.
  4. Add 2 more layouts to the document.
  5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 in the additional layouts.
  6. Execute the document in Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 Update 2.
  7. On the first layout, change the selector element. Notice that on the first attempt, the grid is unresponsive.

CAUSE:

This is a known issue in Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 Update 2.

ACTION:

Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on this issue.

WORKAROUND:

Do any of the following:

  1. Use less than 3 layouts for the document.
  2. Switch to another layout, then back to the original, the selector will now work.
  3. Change the selector twice; it will start filter properly after that.
  4. If the target grid of the selector is the same across all layouts, move the grid to the Shared Page Header as well to prevent the issue.
