The following error is sometimes seen when logging into MicroStrategy Desktop 10.x as an LDAP user: Connection failed. You are either: a) attempting to connect to a MicroStrategy Intelligence Server and its version is older than the version of MicroStrategy Desktop you are using. This configuration is not supported. b) using an incorrect port number in the MicroStrategy project source. Please use the correct port number specified by the system administrator.

SYMPTOM:
The following error is sometimes seen when logging into Strategy Desktop 10.x as an LDAP user

Connection failed. You are either:
a) attempting to connect to a Strategy Intelligence Server and its version is older than the
version of Strategy Desktop you are using. This configuration is not supported.
b) using an incorrect port number in the Strategy project source.
Please use the correct port number specified by the system administrator.

CAUSE:
There are several possible reasons for this error. One is that the "Number of nested group levels above to import" option (Intelligence Server Configuration>LDAP>Filters) is set too high. Users can specify how many LDAP groups to import into Strategy when the user or group is imported. By default, this is set to 1.

ACTION:
Lower the "Number of nested group levels above to import" option (Intelligence Server Configuration>LDAP>Filters).
