The time based schedule is not triggered after resetting the system time in MicroStrategy Intelligence Server

SYMPTOM:
The time based schedule is not triggered after resetting the system time in Strategy Intelligence Server
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Create a time based schedule that runs at 2:30 AM daily under Administration>Configuration Managers>Schedules as below:
ka04W000000Oe8tQAC_0EM4400000029jM.jpeg

CAUSE:
At each time when a time-based schedule is triggered, Strategy also calculate the next time to trigger it. The schedule will be triggered when the next-trigger-time is coming. If the next-trigger-time already passed, the schedule will be triggered immediately.
In the above test, when the schedule is triggered around 8-23 2:30AM, the next-trigger-time is already setup as 8-24 2:30AM. And the schedule will not be triggered until 8-24 2:30AM. In order to reset the time-based schedule, it is require to restart Intelligence Server after the system time is changed.

ACTION:
Restart Intelligence Server after changing the system time to reset the time-based schedule.

  • Create an email subscription using this schedule. It is observed that the schedule is triggered around 8-23 2:30AM and the email subscription is received.
  • Change the system time back and make it earlier than  8-23 2:30AM, for example, 8-23 01:00AM.
  • When it comes to 8-23 2:30 AM or later, the schedule is not triggered and no email is received.
