KB411569: "The LDAP authentication user is invalid" error message appears when connecting to a Project Source in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x and 10.x with LDAP Authentication.

SYMPTOM:
When users attempt to login to Strategy Developer 9.x and 10.x using LDAP authentication, the following error comes up:

An error occurred during authentication. Please contact your administrator: the LDAP authentication user is invalid.
 
 
CAUSE:
The error could be due to various reasons. Below are some possible reasons for this error:
 

• The LDAP credentials entered for this particular user are invalid.
• Incorrect LDAP server information may have been entered in the Strategy Intelligence Server configuration.
• The chasing of LDAP referrals might be enabled in the Active Directory structure.

 
ACTION:
 
Ensure that the LDAP credentials for the particular user are valid. Ensure that the LDAP configuration on the Strategy Intelligence Server configuration is correct. For this, refer to the following Strategy Knowledge Base technical note:
