This article describes an issue with incorrectly stored data in a database

SYMPTOM:
Error message "UnicodeValueToWideChar: Invalid UNICODE value U+23FEC.." appears when executing report containing Chinese traditional or Korean characters in Strategy against an Oracle Data Warehouse with UTF-8 character set encoding, as shown below:

Job: 200214
Status: Execution failed
Error: SQL Generation Complete
QueryEngine encountered error: MBase::UnicodeValueToWideChar: Invalid UNICODE value U+23FEC..
Error in Process method of Component: QueryEngineServer, Project Mobile One Track, Job 200214, Error Code= -2147212544.

CAUSE:
The error is caused by the presence of certain Chinese Traditional or Korean characters that are incorrectly stored in the Data Warehouse. While the database uses a code page that supports the character in question, the character itself is incorrectly stored. For example if the ETL process inserted the character with the UTF16 code point into a database field using UTF8

ACTION:
The recommendation is to correct the underlying problem of these characters being incorrectly stored in the Data Warehouse.
