KB41392: Some windows, including Developer Preferences, are cut off and missing some options such as "Display hidden objects" in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.x-10.x running on Windows operating systems.

Some windows, including Developer Preferences, are cut off and missing some options such as "Display hidden objects" in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.x-10.x running on Windows operating systems.

SYMPTOM:

Consider the following screenshot which was taken from the Developer Preferences window with the "Browsing" option selected:

Note that the screen is cut off on the bottom, eliminating the "Show hidden objects" setting from the selectable area.

This can occur in Strategy Developer 9.4.x-10.x running on Windows operating systems.

CAUSE:

This issue is caused by the Windows display DPI (Dots Per Inch) setting being set too high.  This causes the screen to appear enlarged and therefore cuts off the bottom of certain windows when they are displayed.

ACTION:

Modify the Windows DPI display setting by performing the following steps:

  1. Click on the "Start" menu and go to "Control Panel"
  2. Click on the "Display" icon
  3. Click on the "Smaller - 100%" DPI option (see screenshot below)
  4. Log in and out of the Windows account
  5. Check the display of Developer Preferences or whatever window was problematic.  It should now be displaying properly.
