KB41476: The orientation in page setup of a report is not retained after exporting it to Excel in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.x-10.x

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

This article dewscribes a current limitation of the Export Engine which doesn’t support page settings for exporting reports to Excel.

SYMPTOM:
The orientation in page setup of a report is not retained after exporting it to Excel in Strategy Developer 9.4.x-10.x

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow the steps below to reproduce the issue in Strategy Developer 9.4.x-10.x:

  • Create a grid report, in Page Setup, set the orientation to Landscape, as shown below:

  • Export the report to Excel. Note that the orientation in Page Setup is reversed back to Portrait, as shown below:

CAUSE:
The Export Engine in Strategy 9.4.x-10.x doesn’t support page settings for exporting reports to Excel.

ACTION:
After careful consideration, Strategy decided that this enhancement isn't part of the foreseeable development roadmap of the platform so it won't be implemented.
Users can still post to the Ideas Exchange for this to be reevaluated for the future:
