This technical document describes a query engine error in MicroStrategy 9.3.x.

SYMPTOM:
"Error: QueryEngine Encountered Error: No logical database connection" appears when running reports in Strategy Desktop 9.3.x as shown below:


Error: QueryEngine Encountered Error: No logical database connection. Report. Error in Process Method of Component: QueryEngineServer...

CAUSE:

Report is running in a 3-tier project source without restarting Strategy Intelligence Server after the creation of database instance in a 2-tier project source.
New project is created in a 3-tier project source and Strategy Intelligence Server is not restarted.

ACTION:
Restart Strategy Intelligence Server 9.3.x.
