Subscriptions recipient name will not update when user or group display name is changed through MicroStrategy Web 9.3.0.

SYMPTOM

The Strategy Administrator changes the name of a Strategy user through the User Manager editor in Strategy Web 9.3.0, however the new name will not be updated in the subscriptions recipient list.

In the image below, Scott is the old name.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  1. Create a new user in Strategy Web.
  2. Create a History List subscription with multiple recipients including the new user.
  3. Change the Full Name (display name) of the user - through the Intelligence Server Manager in Strategy Web.
  4. View My Subscriptions and notice the old name of the user is displayed.
  5. Edit the subscription and view the old name of the user.
  6. Create a new email subscription and access the Recipients browser - the old name of the user displayed there too.
  7. Create a new History List subscription and view the default recipient with the old name displayed again.

CAUSE

This is a known issue in Strategy Web 9.3.0.

ACTION

Contact Strategy Support for an update on this issue.

WORKAROUND

  1. Each time a user name change is performed, the Strategy administrator should go to Strategy Desktop and simply go to the Devices section under Administration. This will refresh the contacts' names and Strategy Web 9.3.0 will mirror the changes.
  2. Perform the user name change trough Strategy Desktop and not through Strategy Web 9.3.0.
