SYMPTOM:
Making a change to "Web Quick Search" on one node does not automatically change it on the other node in a clustered MicroStratey 10.x or higher environment.
For more information on Web Quick Search, refer to KB41444: New Quick Search feature in MicroStrategy 9.3.0 Web
CAUSE:
The index directory is not setup correctly which results in this inconsistency.
ACTION:
For Linux/Unix:
Note: The instructions below make the following assumptions:
a. The exported filesystem is available from an NFS node as '<remote_fs>:/<path_to_IndexDirectory>'.
b. The folder for IndexDirectory storage is called 'IndexDirectory'. Users should adjust this to match their environments.
c. The local mount point at which the remote filesystem will be available is '<local_path_to_IndexDirectory>'.
- In the Strategy Intelligence Server configuration, users should configure the location for the index directory to be '\\<local_path_to_IndexDirectory>\IndexDirectory>'. Users should note that the Intelligence Server will convert the backslashes in the path (\\) to forward slashes (//) when resolving the path on Unix/Linux systems, however, it is required to setup the project configuration to use backslashes as this is how the Intelligence Server understands that a shared cache and inbox location is configured.
- On Node1 and Node2 of the cluster, create the folder /<local_path_to_IndexDirectory> on the root folder and a sub folder /<local_path_to_IndexDirectory>/IndexDirectory.
- Now on Node1 and Node2, this newly created folder should be mounted with the corresponding exported folder from the central file server location as:
Sample Code/Error
mount <remote_fs>:/<path_to_IndexDirectory>IndexDirectory /<local_path_to_IndexDirectory>/IndexDirectory
- Verify that the permissions are correctly set so that the account with which the Strategy Intelligence Server runs on both machines can correctly read and write files to the shared location.
For Windows:
- Users can just use '\\machine\IndexDirectory' as below:
