KB41696: Exporting a collapsed report in outline mode with subtotals enabled to Excel from either Developer or Web returns expanded results in MicroStrategy 10.x

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

In MicroStrategy 10.x, if a report is in outline mode with totals enabled, when exported to Excel with the report collapsed to the lowest level, the exported version expands to show everything.

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy 10.x, if a report is in outline mode with totals enabled, when exported to Excel with the report collapsed to the lowest level, the exported version expands to show everything.
Here is what the report looks like in Developer :

When exported to Excel the results are as follows:

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy 10.x. This will happen only when outline mode is enabled with totals and both metrics and attributes are on the rows.
ACTION:
Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.
