Users may want to create new locales programmatically, they can do so through the Intelligence Server API. Below are two samples one in VBA the other in C# which show how to create new locales.
This can be performed by invoking the NewLocale method on IDSSSource8. NewLocale has three parameters; iLocaleID, UserRuntime, and oppNewLocale. iLocaleID is an integer value which is determined by Microsoft’s enumerations for locales, which is called LCID in their documentation. See below for a link to Microsoft’s documentation.
Locale IDs Assigned by Microsoft
The user runtime is optional in client written code. Within the server we need it to identify which user wants to make the new locale, but in a client side environment there is only one user so we know who is making the object.
Remember to use NewLocale to create the locale object that represents the new language – do not attempt to use NewObject passing in DssTypeLocale. This will create a locale object, but it will not have the correct DSS ID. NewLocale encodes the LCID into the DSS ID for the newly created object.
VBA sample
Set dsLocale = MySource.NewLocale(2409)
//this line is necessary to save the object
dsLocale.SaveObject
C# sample
DSSCOMMasterLib.IDSSLocale Locale3 = MySource.NewLocale(1033000);
Locale3.Info.Parent =(DSSCOMMasterLib.IDSSFolder) MySource.FindObject("CF36CAC05FAC46A4A8CD58D968C538DB",DSSCOMMasterLib.EnumDSSObjectType.DssTypeFolder); //Parent folder has to be specified
Locale3.Info.Name = "newlocale";
Locale3.Info.Save(); ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Strategy SDK allows you to customize the standard Strategy Web interface, and extend and integrate the Strategy business intelligence functionality into other applications.
