KB42091: Narrowcast subscription creates multiple emails when only one email sent to all users is desired in MicroStrategy 9.x

Community Admin

• Strategy

SYMPTOM:

A Narrowcast subscription creates multiple emails when only one email sent to all users is desired in Strategy 9.x.

CAUSE:

When a service is executed, Narrowcast will attempt to group users together based on commonalities between their Authentication, Security, and Personalization objects. These groups are referred to as Usersets. An email will be generated for each Userset.

ACTION:

Refer to KB10377 - "How many email messages does Strategy Narrowcast Server generate when subscriptions receive identical data content?" for additional information on how Narrowcast generates emails.

Check all users that are part of the subscription to ensure they have identical Authentication, Security, and Personalization objects.

Authentication, Security, and Personalization settings for users can be checked in the User Properities Editor.
