KB42109: "Setup requires the following Windows services to be stopped for the installation to proceed: Print Spooler" message appears when installing MicroStrategy 9.x on Windows Operating Systems

This KB addresses an message seen when attempting to install MicroStrategy on a Windows OS.

SYMPTOM:
When installing Strategy 9.x on a Windows Operating System, a message will appear after pressing 'Next' on the initial screen.

A message prompt appears, with the following:

"Setup requires the following Windows services to be stopped for the installation to proceed: Print Spooler

Click Yes if you want the setup program to shut them down during the installation. Click No to go back. "

 
CAUSE:
In order to install Strategy 9.x on a Windows Operating System, the 'Print Spooler' service must be stopped.
 
ACTION:
To complete the installation, select 'Yes' so that the 'Print Spooler' can be stopped and the installation can proceed.
