Community Admin

• Strategy

The following are step-by-step instructions on how to modify the objects seen in the Objects Browser when a user is in design mode. To change the default home page to be the Summary Page, log into MicroStrategy and navigate to the Preferences. Under User Preferences and General, the default start page should be set to Summary.

When logged into Strategy Web, the Summary page shows Shared Reports, as shown below.

When using the Summary page as the default home page, the Shared Reports section will show only 2 documents by default in Strategy Web 9.2.x and 9.3.x.

ACTION
The number of objects displayed on the Summary page under Shared Reports in Strategy Web is hardcoded with a value of 2 in the styleCatalog.xml file within the web server. It is possible to modify this file directly, however, this change should be made through a plugin via the Web Customization Editor, as per best practices.

Note: Direct modifications of OOTB files contradict best practices and are not supported. This change needs to be done with a plugin.

  1. Launch the Web Customization Editor.
  2. Create a new plug-in.
  3. Navigate to Strategy Web Configuration -> Web Configuration Settings -> Styles.
  4. Open FolderStyleSummary.
  5. Navigate to the "Style Parameters" tab on the bottom of the window.
  6. Select maxObjectTypeCount.
  7. Increase the "2" in the Value field to the desired number of documents displayed under Shared Reports.

Note: 55 is a reference of object type, for objects that are of type "document definition": https://www2.microstrategy.com/producthelp/Current/WebAPIReference/com/microstrategy/webapi/EnumDSSXMLObjectTypes.html#DssXmlTypeDocumentDefinition
