SYMPTOM:
When using a numeric metric on a report it calculates metrics to a lower degree of accuracy than expected. This may include cutting off digits, rounding numbers, and incorrectly displaying metric calculations in a compound metric.
CAUSE:
This is caused by an incorrect level in Scale when calculating the metric off the fact and can be affected by Table Creation Type not being set on Explicit (default)
ACTION:
Ensure that the Scale of the metric is set correctly to include as many digits as required for proper accuracy. This must be set at the lowest level metric. A compound metric will use the lowest scale amongst its component metrics for its final calculation.
To adjust the Scale of the metric:
1. Right click the metric in question and choose Edit.
2. Under the Tools option, choose Metric Column Alias Options.
3. Ensure that the Data Type being used is set correctly and if on Decimal or Big Decimal the Precision and Scale are set appropriately to ensure the metric is calculated and displayed correctly.
4. Change VLDB properties at the Report level under Tables - Table Creation Type - Explicit (default).
Issue should now be resolved.
