Strategy Narrowcast Server provides an open architecture that allows information to be gathered from external sources for use in Strategy Narrowcast Server services.

The system component that enables gathering information from external sources is called an information source. Out of the box, Strategy Narrowcast Server provides an information source to gather reports from the Strategy Intelligence Server. Database, also known as ODBC, information source module (ISM) is available in Narrowcast Server as sample code.
This sample code is strictly to be used as an example and not intended for use in production environments. This sample code is meant to be used for testing, demonstration, illustration, educational, or proof-of-concept purposes only. This sample code is provided "as-is" and Strategy accepts no warranty of any kind.

Follow these steps to configure the Database ISM in Strategy Narrowcast Server:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and browse to Program Files (x86)\MicroStrategy\Narrowcast Server\Delivery Engine\SampleCode\ISMSamples\WebISM\CompiledFiles
  2. Double-click on the RegisterxMLISM.bat file.
  3. Run Regedit (in the Start Menu, under Run, type Regedit).
  4. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Wow6432Node\SOFTWARE\MicroStrategy\Strategy Broadcast. Server\7.0\Modules\ISM.
  5. Create a new String Value and name it "XMLInformationSourceV2.XMLISMAdmin". Leave the value empty.
  6. Close and re-open the Strategy Narrowcast Administrator.
  7. In the Strategy Narrowcast Administrator, right-click the Information Source Modules folder and select New Information Source Module.
  8. Select Web ISM and provide a name for this module, for example Web ISM.

The Web ISM is now configured and ready to be used.
