When uninstalling MicroStrategy components on a UNIX/Linux machine via command line in MicroStrategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1, the component numbers to the left of some components are not displayed. This does not allow uninstalling the components without a number.

SYMPTOM:

When uninstalling Strategy components on a UNIX/Linux machine via command line in Strategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1, the component numbers to the left of some components are not displayed. This does not allow uninstalling the components without a number.

For example, the components "Multisource" and "Clustering Feature" do not show a number to their left as shown below.

Select the components you want to install, and deselect the components that you do not want to install or that you want to remove.

  1 Strategy Intelligence Server
       2 Strategy Distribution Services
       3 Strategy OLAP Services
       4 Strategy Report Services
       5 Strategy Transaction Services
         Multisource
         Clustering Feature
  6 Strategy Web Universal
       7 Strategy Web Reporter
       8 Strategy Web Analyst
       9 Strategy Web Professional
      10 Strategy Web Portlets
      11 Strategy GIS Connectors
  12 Strategy Mobile
      13 Strategy Mobile Blackberry Client
      14 Strategy Mobile Server
15 Strategy Web Services for Office
     Strategy Integrity Manager(Not Licensed)
     Strategy Command Manager(Not Licensed)
     Strategy System Manager(Not Licensed)
  0 Continue

Enter the number of a component to select/unselect it. Enter 0 to continue.

As the component to uninstall must be selected using the component number, the component cannot be installed.

CAUSE:

This issue is encountered when the components were installed using a license key that licensed more components than the currently active license. As the active license lists only the licensed products, the components installed with the old license are not assigned a number and cannot be uninstalled.

ACTION:

Update the license key to reflect the original license key. This will allow all the components to be assigned a number and be available for uninstall. Once the uninstallation of the required components is complete, the new license key can be implemented.
