Users receive the following error message when executing a query against a column with "NVARCHAR/NCHAR" data type in MicroStrategy DB Query Tool against an Oracle warehouse.

SYMPTOM:
Users receive the following error message when executing a query against a column with "NVARCHAR/NCHAR" data type in Strategy DB Query Tool against an Oracle warehouse.


Query failed to execute. Execute Query failed.
Error type: Odbc error. Odbc operation attempted: SQLExecDirect. Optional feature not implemented.

CAUSE:This error occurs because the ODBC DSN does not have the option "Enable N-CHAR Support" enabled.
ACTION:
Enable the Option "Enable N-CHAR Support" for the ODBC DSN, as shown below:

Note: In Strategy version 10.10 and higher, the "Enable N-CHAR Support" option is no longer available in the advanced tab, but can be enabled by referring to the below article:
