SYMPTOM

All users including the Administrator user, are unable to add external data in Strategy Web using folder browsing. However, all users can add external data through URLs.
 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Within Strategy Web

1. Add External Data
2. File from Disk
3. Choose File
4. Finish

Error Message Displayed on Client Machine:

Error in importing the file. Please check the file being imported.
Details: undefined There was no file uploaded for this Task invocation. 
 
 

 Error Message Displayed in Strategy Web Logs of Web Server Machine:

  <message>java.io.IOException: The system cannot find the path specified</message>
 
 

CAUSE

The message in the Strategy Web logs, “The system cannot find the path specified</message>” indicates that the Web Server cannot file the correct path to save the file from the Client machine to the Web Server machine.
 

ACTION

1. Verify that the temp folder is in the correct location on the Web Server machine
2. Verify that the everyone group has full control in folder’s security properties
