What are the minimum privileges that a user needs to create an Intelligent Cube in MicroStrategy Developer 10.x

If the Administrator wants to create a user that is only allowed to create an Intelligent Cube from a grid report in Strategy Developer 10.x, but not to publish it, the minimum privileges that the Administrator would need to grant to the user are listed below:

  • Common Privileges
    • * Use OLAP services (added automatically after selecting '* Use Intelligent Cube Editor')
    • Create application objects
  • Analyst
    • Use Desktop
    • Use report editor
  • Developer
    • * Use Intelligent Cube Editor
    • Use design mode

To grant the privileges, follow the steps below:

  1. Login as Administrator and create a new user.
  2. In the User editor, select the 'Project Access' tab, and assign the privileges.

NOTE: If the user is required to create a new report and then create the Intelligent Cube, at least the privilege "Modify the list of report objects (use object browser)” under “Desktop Designer” is needed additionally.
