Within MicroStrategy Web 10, some of our users have been experiencing an error message when using selectors in documents (RSDs). If you have been having trouble with documents in Web 10, continue reading the article. The issue has been solved by our MicroStrategy developers in the 10.4 Hotfix 1.

Troubleshooting
Message "Object with ID 'X....X' and type 55 (Document Definition)..." occurs in Web 10 when using selector in Document
Within Strategy Web 10, some of our users have been experiencing an error message when using selectors in documents (RSDs). When using the drop-down selector to filter the display in a source document and a link to open a targeted report in a new window, the following error message occurs:

"Object with ID ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’ and type 55 (Document Definition) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted. Message not found in user history list. It may have been deleted from other session already. Please, refresh your history list.)"

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a Report in the Human Resources Analysis Module project.
  2. Create a Report in the Strategy Tutorial project with:
  • Region, Call Center, Year, Revenue, Profit and Profit Margin.
  1. Create a Document in Strategy Tutorial with the dataset from the Report created in Step 2.
  2. In the document add the grid from the report, the drop-down selector, and text with the link targeting the report from Human Resources Analysis Module.
  3. Run the Document in Presentation Mode.
  4. Click on the link and log into the other project to display the targeted Report.
  5. Go back to the Source Document and try to change the choice in the drop-down selector.
  6. The error message pops up as per below image.

Why is this happening?
This is known issue in Strategy 10. The issue has been solved in 10.4 and later versions.

Status
ACKNOWLEDGED   IN-PROGRESS   SOLVED   (Version: Strategy 10.4+)
Next Steps

  • The issue does not occur for the target report from the same project as the source document.
  • The issue occurs only in the Presentation Mode and not for all selectors.

To resolve the issue, try the following steps:

  1. Add one more selector (with the same attribute), but for example Check Boxes.
  2. Check that the issue does not occur anymore .
  3. Delete additional selector.
  4. Test the drop-down selector (the issue should no longer occur).
