KB425861: List of defects fixed in MicroStrategy Office 10.4.5 and 10.9 for Microsoft Office 2016

Shane Winslow

Cloud Support Expert I • MicroStrategy

This article lists defects fixed in MicroStrategy Office 10.4.5 and 10.9 with Microsoft Office 2016.

Beginning with Strategy versions 10.4.5 and 10.9 (tentatively scheduled to be released at the end of Q3 2017), Microsoft Office 2016 is fully certified with Strategy Office. Defects fixed in the certification of Microsoft Office 2016 are listed below.
General Installation

  1. Strategy Office fails to install with the Win 64 bit installer version with an error that the version is not recognized. We have found  that the users can in fact install using the 32 bit version and have not seen any adverse issues in doing so
    • Workaround/Recommendation: When prompted, the user needs to select 32 bit as the installer option and proceeds as normal through the installation steps.

Microsoft Word

  1. Cannot show headers description in grid.
  • Users can enable headers description in Office Options > Grid > Enable Show Headers Description. A red icon should appear above the attribute cell that would allow users to mouse over the attribute to show a description tooltip, but the red icon does not appear.
  1. Formatting does not apply on refresh.
    • In Office Options > Grid > Formatting > Disable Apply formatting from report definition but enable apply formatting from report definition on refresh. No formatting (headers, metric values, etc.) is applied when initially executing the report. Upon refresh, the formatting is also not applied.
  2. Auto outline report with subtotals does not display outlined.
    • In Office Options > Grid > Layout > Outline > Enable Auto Outline reports with subtotals. When running reports, the reports do not displayed outlined.
  3. Quick Grid formatting 'List 1' gets lost upon refresh.
    • In Office Options > General > Quick Grid > set formatting to 'List 1'. When initially executing a report, the formatting is displayed in 'List 1' formatting. Upon refreshing the report, the 'List 1' formatting is lost.
  4. Quick Grid formatting with 'List 1' without patterns formatting gets lost upon refresh.
    • In Office Options > General > Quick Grid > set formatting to 'List 1'. Uncheck the Patterns option under Formats to Apply. When initially executing a report, the formatting is displayed in 'List 1' formatting minus the pattern. Upon refreshing the report, the formatting is lost.
  5. Lock persistence setting does not work.
    • In Office Options > General > Security > Enable Lock persistence. A user logs in to Office and executes a report. If this user disconnects from the project source and logs in as another user, the new user is able to modify the report properties.

Microsoft Excel

  1. Chart Refresh: Apply formatting form report definition on refresh does not apply correctly.
    • In Office Options > Chart > Chart Options > Specify a default chart type. In Office Options > Chart > Chart Refresh > Enable Apply formatting from report definition on refresh. When a user initially executes the chart, it is wrong at initial load. It is loading data for one series.
  1. Cannot show headers description in grid.
    • Users can enable headers description in Office Options > Grid > Enable Show Headers Description. A red icon should appear above the attribute cell that would allow users to mouse over the attribute to show a description tooltip, but the red icon does not appear.
  2. Auto outline report with subtotals does not display outlined.
    • In Office Options > Grid > Layout > Outline > Enable Auto Outline reports with subtotals. When running reports, the reports do not displayed outlined.
