KB42624: An object prompt of Pull Down Style has the first object automatically selected even though there is no default answer specified in MicroStrategy Web 9.x and 10.x

SYMPTOM:
 
In Strategy Web 9.x and 10.x, an object prompt of Pull Down Style, on a report, automatically selects the first object, even though a default prompt answer has not be specified in the prompt definition.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. Create an object prompt, and add some objects to the list using either of the options provided.
2. Make sure a prompt answer is required, with no default answers, and choose it to be pull down style.
3. Add this object prompt to the rows of a new report and add a metric to the columns.
4. Run the report in Strategy Desktop 9.3.0 and notice that no answer is chosen by default. The right side window that shows selected elements is blank.
5. Run the report in Strategy Web 9.3.0 and notice that the first attribute is automatically in the pull down box. 

CAUSE:
 
This is a known issue in Strategy Web 9.x and 10.x.
 
ACTION:
 
Contact Strategy Technical Support. for an update on this issue.
 
WORKAROUND:
 
To prevent the object prompt from automatically choosing the first element, 3 different options exist:

1. Change the style from Pull Down to something else.
2. Unselect the option to make prompt answers required.
3. Mark a more meaningful object as the default selection through Strategy Developer 9.x and 10.x.
