KB426326: ESRI Shapefile Renders Well in MicroStrategy Web but Out of Use in MicroStrategy Mobile 10.7 for iOS

Community Admin

• Strategy

Starting from MicroStrategy Mobile 10.7 for iOS, Images in .shp format are supported, allowing for the use of custom images on mobile maps as per the instructions. Users may copy the ESRI Shapefile Plugin which used to work in MicroStrategy Web to the Mobile plugin folder, but find it out of use.

SYMPTOM:
Starting from Strategy Mobile 10.7 for iOS, Images in .shp format are supported, allowing for the use of custom images on mobile maps as per the following instructions from product manual:
How to use an ESRI Shapefile
Users may copy the ESRI Shapefile Plugin which used to work in Strategy Web to the Mobile plugin folder, but find it does not take effect.

CAUSE:

One of the possible cause is shapeKey attribute of the <shape> element may be missing in the mstrGeoShapesConfig.xml, located under xml/config in the plugin folder. It may work without shapeKey attribute for Strategy web if there is only one .shp file. But shapeKey is necessary for Strategy Mobile.

ACTION:

Add shapeKey="NAME" to the <shape> element in the mstrGeoShapesConfig.xml. Here the value NAME should be the same with the one used to match the shapes with the data.
