KB42638: When creating a consolidation with a formula like A + ((A/(A+B)) *C) and then clicking Validate, the formula changes in MicroStrategy 9.4.x-10.x

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

When creating a consolidation, and the formula is set up like A + ((A/(A+B)) *C), the formula will change upon clicking Validate

SYMPTOM:
When creating a consolidation, and the formula is set up like A + ((A/(A+B)) *C), the formula will change upon clicking Validate.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
This can be reproduced in Strategy Tutorial by creating a consolidation like below.

After clicking 'Validate' the consolidation will change to the image below.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue.

ACTION:
Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.

WORKAROUND:
To workaround the formula changing when clicking validate, the user should define their formula like ((A/(A+B)) *C) +A. This calculates the same as A + ((A/(A+B)) *C) but is just shown in a different order.
