KB426541: Ability to set the value of the "Maximum single allocation size (MBytes)" governing setting to more than 2047 MB in MicroStrategy 10.x.

Frederick Kellerman

Cloud Support Expert I • MicroStrategy

This article discusses changes made to the "Enable single memory allocation" governing option in MicroStrategy 10.x.

BACKGROUND
The "Enable single memory allocation governing" options allows a user to limit the memory the Strategy Intelligence Server requests at a time.
When this option is enabled, each memory request is compared to the Maximum single allocation size (MBytes) setting and if the request exceeds the limit, the request is denied. This setting is located under Strategy Intelligence Server Configuration->Governing Rules->Default->Memory Settings.

Prior to Strategy 10.x the maximum value that could be specified for this setting was 2047 MB. Starting in Strategy Secure Enterprise 10.x, it is possible to specify values greater than 2047 MB. The maximum value that can be specified through the Strategy Developer interface is 9999999 MB.
