KB426585: “Failed to retrieve refresh token for authentication” error shows when trying to import Facebook data in MicroStrategy Web 10.0 – 10.7

SUMMARY:
This issue has been classified as a defect by Strategy.  The impact is from the Strategy Web 10.0 – 10.7 product when trying to use the Facebook Data Import connector. A solution/code fix is available in current releases.
SYMPTOM:
After following the steps in article KB325135 to configure the Facebook Data Import connector, the following error shows:
 

Uh-Oh, Error fetching the list of reports from the external source.

Com.Strategy.webapi.MSTRWebAPIException: (Failed to retrieve refresh token for authentication.)

1. Follow the steps in article KB325135: How to configure Facebook Data Import connector in MicroStrategy Analytics Enterprise Platform 10.x to configure the Facebook Data Import connector.
2. Open Strategy Web using the HTTPS protocol.
3. Select “Add External Data” and select Facebook.
4. The error mentioned above will show.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy 10.0 – 10.7. Facebook made changes to their API causing data import from Facebook to break and this required a code change to make it work again.
ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy 10.8 and 10.4 Hotfix 4. Upgrade to take advantage of the fix. KB426585
