Derived elements are often used in reports to calculate elements in the Analytical Engine. They are thus subject to Evaluation Order settings. These are often used to generate metric information correctly and ensure the elements are displayed with correct information.
However, when using derived elements in a report, note that they will not show up on a document or dashboard's evaluation order. Evaluation Order on a dashboard or document behaves differently than with reports.
On a report, the information in derived objects is calculated at the View level and is thus subject to Evaluation Order. This includes derived elements and derived metrics.
However, in a dashboard or document, the information at the attribute level must be calculated in the report during the SQL passes as it must be joined in the virtual dataset for the dashboard or document. This means derived elements will already be calculated. Derived metrics on the other hand are able to be calculated in the View level of a document or dashboard and thus can still be adjusted in Evaluation Order.
