KB42881: Element Pre/Post-SQL is not being fully submitted that contains semicolons when running reports in MicroStrategy against a database warehouse.

This article notes how semicolons are handled in the element pre/post SQL statement property

SYMPTOM:
When using a Element Pre/Post SQL statement that contains semicolons, the statement is not being submitted correctly to the database warehouse.

This can be verified by enabling a SQL trace and viewing the SQL that is submitted to the Warehouse.

CAUSE:
This is caused by the Element Pre/Post SQL syntax. The SQL parser reads the semicolon in the statement as an end-line and will not submit the SQL after it.

ACTION:
The correct syntax for this Pre/Post SQL statement is to add a second semicolon to all semicolons that are not intended to be end-lines.

This will allow for the full statement to be submitted.
