KB428994: In MicroStrategy Web error "java.net ConnectException: Connection timed out" when attempting to wrangle data

SUMMARY:
Starting with Strategy 10.x, when the user attempts to prepare data using data wrangling, they will receive the following error: "java.net ConnectException": Connection timed out"
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

• Create a new dashboard by "Adding External Data", as shown below:
  
  

• Prepare data wrangle and advance to Finish, as shown below:
  
  

• User will encounter the error "java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out", as shown below:
  
  

 
CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy 10.x and above, when firewall in the environment causes connection issues for the ports used by the data import connection between the Web and Intelligence Server.
 
ACTION:
Open Port 3333 on the firewall for the connection from the Web server to the Intelligence Server.
