KB42979: What are the different scenarios that result in the creation of partial caches in MicroStrategy 9.x?

Community Admin

• Strategy

Explanation of the different scenarios in which a user in Developer may experience partial caches being created.

Partial caches are created in the following scenarios:

  • Run a report and cancel the job in the middle of execution.
  • From Strategy Web, browse to a report and create a subscription but do not run the subscription.
  • Open a report in SQL View.
  • A partial Document Instance cache is created when running a dashboard in Flash mode to avoid data documentation preparation process during cache retrievel (formatting cache)

Partial caches may or may not appear in the Cache Monitor. If a partial cache does not appear in the Cache Monitor, it will need to be manually deleted from the cache folder configured under Project Configuration.
Known Issues:
KB41150 - Jobs with "Waiting for cache" status remain in the same status even though the executing job fails in Strategy Intelligence Server 9.x
