SYMPTOM:
The following error is encountered when executing a report in Strategy Desktop 9.x:
Error: SQL Generation-CompleteQueryEngine encountered error: Out of memory. Error in Process method of Component: QueryEngineServer. Project XXX, Job XXX, Error Code= 2147212544
CAUSE:
Strategy Desktop 9.x utilizes it's own Query Engine component. Strategy Desktop 9.x is a 32-bit application and is limited to the amount of memory it can address due to the memory limitation of the 32-bit architecture. The Query Engine component of Strategy Desktop 9.x is limited to 2GB of memory.
ACTION:
The report can be executed in Strategy Web. For jobs executed in Strategy Web, the Query Engine of the Intelligence Server is used. If an Universal version of the Intelligence Server is used, the Query Engine is a 64-bit component and will not encounter the same memory limitation as the 32-bit version of the Query Engine that is used by Strategy Desktop 9.x.
