KB43011: Only the default layout of a document with multiple layouts can be exported to PDF using email Alerts feature in MicroStrategy Web

SYMPTOM:
 
In Strategy Web, when users set up an Alert on a report metric to email a certain dashboard containing multiple layouts as PDF, the PDF will only display one layout, which is the default one, and no other layouts will be exported.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

• Create a document with two layouts, as shown below.
  

• In the document properties, enable the export 'All Layouts' options.
• Save the document as 'LayoutAlert'.
• Create a report with Year and Revenue and name it 'Alert Report'.
• Add an email alert for when Revenue goes above 0, as shown below.
  

• Set the Alert up to send the document 'LayoutAlert', created in step 1, as PDF using the "Send different report or document" option.
  

• Send the Alert to an email address with the 'Send a preview now' option enabled.  Notice when opening the PDF file, only the last displayed layout is shown, not both of them as seen below.
  

 
CAUSE:
 
This is a current limitation with the Alert feature in Strategy Web. An enhancement has been logged to have the ability to send Alerts for documents to be exported with all layouts to PDF.
 
ACTION:
 
This feature has been implemented in Strategy 10.6 and newer. Upgrade to the latest version of Strategy to take advantage of this feature.
