SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Web 9.4.1 and 10.x, after drilling through a grid attribute used as selector in a report services document, it is not possible to use as selector the target attribute of drilling in the resulting grid instance.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow the steps below In order to reproduce this issue using the Strategy Tutorial project:
- Create a new report adding the Year, Category and Subcategory attributes to rows and the Revenue metric to columns.
- Create a dashboard using the newly created report.
- In the dashboard:
- Create a grid with the Category attribute in the rows and the Revenue metric in the columns.
- Add a Panel Stack
- Into the Panel stack, add a Vertical Bar graph with the Category and Year attributes as categories and the Revenue metric as series.
- Save and execute the dashboard.
- In the grid:
- Right mouse click on the Category attribute.
- Select the Use as Selector option.
- Then select the Select Targets option.
- Click on the PanelStack to select it as target, then click on OK.
- As of this adjustment, clicking on any category attribute element of the grid, the graph will be rendered according to the selected category attribute element.
- Right mouse click on any Category attribute element of the grid, select the Drill option then choose the Subcategory attribute. At this moment, a new grid and graph instances will be created for the Subcategory attribute.
- In the resulting grid instance, click on any Subcategory attribute element to notice that the graph will no longer be rendered according to the selected Subcategory attribute element, since it is no longer acting as selector.
CAUSE:
This is working as designed. Currently, the Strategy Web is presenting the expected behavior because only the Category attribute was define as selector.
ACTION:
1) After executing a drill through a grid attribute element.
2) In the resulting grid instance, right mouse click on any attribute element of the new grid instance and select the Filter on selections option:
