This knowledge base article documents why "No data returned for this view. This might be because the applied filter excludes all data" message when switching the selector elements in an exported MHT file in MicroStrategy 9.4.x-10.x

SYMPTOM:
The following informative message appears when switching the selector elements in an exported MHT file in Strategy 9.4.x-10.x:

No data returned for this view. This might be because the applied filter excludes all data.

 
CAUSE:
It is working as designed since the filtering selector type was defined as Filter and not Slice, it means that the data for the current selection is calculated only when it is requested by the user.
 
ACTION:
1) Edit the document in Strategy Developer.
2) Right mouse click on the selector and select the Properties option.
3) In the tab Selector, change the filtering selector type to Slice, as shown:

5) Click on Ok, save the document and export to Flash format, so as from this adjustment, the document will be rendered normally when selecting any selector element.
