SYMPTOM:
In Strategy System Manager 9.3.1, when testing connection to a Hive data source the following error may be encountered:
Insufficient information to connect to the data source
CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy System Manager 9.3.1.
ACTION:
This issue has been addressed with Strategy 10.x. Please upgrade to 10.x to take advantage of the fix.
WORKAROUND:
The error message is actually somewhat misleading. The direct cause is that System Manager does not prompt for credentials against the Hive platform by design, thus the error is thrown. Specifying any unintelligible characters however in other tools such as the Strategy DB Query tool will allow the connection to succeed without the error.
