In MicroStrategy Configuration Wizard 9.x and 10.x, when history list tables are upgraded in the same session as metadata tables, existing indexes on metadata tables get dropped if metadata and history tables exist in the same database.

SYMPTOM
After upgrading metadata and history tables to Strategy version 9.x and 10.x sequentially from Strategy Configuration Wizard, indexes on metadata tables get dropped. This only happens in cases where metadata tables and history lis tables exist in the same database.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  1. On Strategy Configuration Wizard 9.x, choose to upgrade the Intelligence Server components using the 1st option.
  2. Proceed to the next steps on the wizard and choose to upgrade the metadata repository.
  3. Proceed to the final screen and finish the upgrade.
  4. In the same Configuration Wizard session, choose the 3rd option to upgrade 'History list repository'.
  5. Proceed to the final screen and complete the upgrade.
  6. After the upgrade is complete, it is seen that existing indexes on metadata tables get dropped.

CAUSE
This is a known issue with Strategy Configuration Wizard 9.x and 10.x when history list tables and metadata tables exist in the same database and when the upgrade of both these repositories is done within the same Configuration Wizard session.

ACTION
Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on this issue.

WORKAROUND
After completing the upgrade of Intelligence Server components on Strategy Configuration Wizard 9.x and 10.x, exit the wizard. Launch Configuration Wizard 9.3.0 again and choose to upgrade the history list repository.
