KB43245: In MicroStrategy 10.x, error "java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused" is received when attempting to connect to Salesforce using the MicroStrategy ODBC driver for Salesforce.

In Strategy 10.x, when attempting to connect to Salesforce using the Strategy ODBC driver for Salesforce , the following error is received:

2013-04-09 15:21:48.617-06:00 Failed to connect to data source.
Error message: Connect failed. Error type: Odbc error. Odbc operation
attempted: SQLDriverConnect. java.net.ConnectException:
Connection refused: connect Connection String:
DSN=SALESFORCE_TEST; UID=ABC@ABC.NET

A connection to Salesforce can be established directly from the browser and users verify that the Saleforce credentials are correct. It is verified that the DSN for Salesforce is created using the Strategy Connectivity Wizard as recommended.

CAUSE
This issue can be seen where a proxy server is being used to connect to Salesforce.

ACTION
Configure Proxy Server settings on the DSN. Edit the DSN using Windows ODBC Administrator and set the proxy server settings on the editor shown below.
