KB43301: How to use the geocoding feature in MicroStrategy 9.x with Data Import?

The following steps explain how to use the geocoding feature in Strategy 9.3.x with Data Import.

• Use Data Import to import an excel worksheet with Country, State, City or Zip Code attributes and at least one metric.
• In the preview page of Data Import, specify that the attribute is a Geographic attribute, and select the type Zip Code, like shown below. 
  

• Publish the cube.
• Create a report based on the cube.
• Create a document based on the report.
• Add a grid object to the document, and add the geographic attribute to the grid, along with the metric.
• Edit the attribute forms on the grid, and notice that Data Import automatically added Latitude and Longitude attribute forms.
• Add both of these attribute forms to the grid, as shown below.
  

• Right click on the grid and select “Properties and Formatting”. 
• Set the Widget type to be Mobile, and select the Map Widget.
• Edit the Widget properties.
• Set the Data Type to be Latitude/Longitude, and make sure to set the Latitude and Longitude to the appropriate attribute forms, like shown below.
  
  

• Click OK. Save the document. 
• View the document on the Strategy Mobile 9.3.x device.
