KB43377: "ORA-00911: invalid character" error occurs when using N-CHAR character as column alias in Data Import in MicroStrategy 9.3.1.

This technical note describes an error received when using N-CHAR character as the column alias in Data Import.

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Web 9.3.1, an 'ORA-00911: invalid character' error occurs when using N-CHAR character as column alias in Data Import
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. In Strategy Web, choose the option Import Data to import data from relational data sources, and select a database connection in Query Builder.
  2. Add a table to the panel, and add one column to the grid, then rename the column name to a Japanese or Chinese character, as shown in the image below:

3. Click 'Publish', the following error message is displayed.

(We could not obtain the data because the database connection or warehouse table is changed. Encountered error: Execute Query failed. %0d%0aError type: Odbc error. Odbc operation attempted: SQLExecDirect. ORA-00911: invalid character Connection String: DSN=Ora1;UID=AHO3APR19U4;HOST=ts-support-db;PORT=1522;SID=orcl112;. SQL Statement: select TEST1.ID1 Id1,%0a TEST1.ID2 _%0afrom AHO3APR19U4.TEST1 TEST1%0a%0a..Error in Process method of Component: QueryEngineServer, Project Strategy Tutorial, Job 85, Error Code= -2147212037.
CAUSE:
This is a known issue with Strategy Web 9.3.1
ACTION:
This issue has been addressed with Strategy 10. Upgrade to take advantage of the fix.
