Attributes can still be manually edited by right clicking and choosing Edit in the Data Explorer while Strategy Architect is open and the Schema is locked. This can result in a metadata inconsistency as the schema can be modified in two places at once and produce an inconsistent definition.

This is a known issue with Strategy 9.x

Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on this issue.
WORKAROUND:
Avoid editing the attribute from the Data Explorer area while the graphical Architect is in use. It is highly recommended that users avoid editing schema in both locations at the same time.
