KB43724: Import function for configuration files does not modify settings handled through radio buttons or check boxes in the options of MicroStrategy Office 9.x and newer

This article explain why the import function for configuration files does not modify settings handled through radio buttons or check boxes in the options of MicroStrategy Office 9.x and newer

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Office, users have the ability to export and import configuration files as per tech note KB20776. However, any setting that is configured through a radio or a check box will not be modified after an import, even if the configuration file specifies it. All configurations stored in text fields are able to change. This prevents users from being able to match settings completely to those in the configuration file.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Open Excel with Strategy Office installed.
  2. Go to Strategy Office Options.
  3. Click Export in the options menu.
  4. Save the configuration file.
  5. Back in the Strategy Office options, make some modifications to settings with radio buttons or check boxes and text boxes, such as:
Checkbox: General Options > Load, uncheck "Load in Word".
Textbox: Performance > change "Maximum concurrent reports" from 5 to 10.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Go back to the options.
  8. Click 'Import' and open the saved .config file.
Notice that only the Maximum concurrent reports reverted back to 5, but "Load in Word" is still unchecked.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Office  concerning the importing of configuration files only, as the exported configuration file does seem to have the correct values.
ACTION:
Contact Strategy Technical Support for the update of this issue.
