When completing a silent installation of MicroStrategy 9.3.0 with a license key that does not contain NarrowCast, it is not possible to avoid installing the DataDirect SequeLink 5.5 Service for ODBC Socket component, even when configuring the response.ini file to avoid this.

SYMPTOM:

When completing a silent installation of Strategy 9.3.0 with a license key that does not contain NarrowCast, it is not possible to avoid installing the DataDirect SequeLink 5.5 Service for ODBC Socket component, even when configuring the response.ini file to avoid this.

The response file has the two variables for the SequeLink component set to false:

ka04W000000OhaJQAS_0EM440000002HLU.jpeg

Sample Code/Error
SequeLinkVisible=FALSE
SequeLinkSelect=FALSE

CAUSE:

This is a known behavior of Strategy 9.3.0. The SequeLink component is installed by default as it is not only used by NarrowCast. but can also be used to access Microsoft Access databases and Microsoft Excel files stored on a Windows machine from an Intelligence Server hosted on a UNIX or Linux machine.

ACTION:

This issue has been addressed in Strategy 9.4.0. Upgrade to this version to take advantage of this fix.

WORKAROUND:

Add the following 5 lines to the section in response.ini file:

NCSAdminSelect=FALSE
DeliveryEngineSelect=FALSE
SubscriptionPortalSelect=FALSE
TutorialDeliveryInstallSelect=FALSE
TutorialDeliveryConfigureSelect=FALSE
