• Strategy

When user register their device with MobileIron they do not see the Apps@Work web clip and as consequences don't have access to the MobileIron app store.

SYMPTOM:
When a user registers an iOS device with MobileIron they do not see the Apps@Work web clip on their home screen and therefore do not have access to the MobileIron app store.
Cause:
This could be due to either:

  1. iOS MDM certificate is expired
  2. iOS MDM profile is disabled

Action:
Below are steps on how to enable the iOS MDM support:

  1. In the Admin Portal, go to Settings.
  2. Go to the MDM Preferences section.
  3. Check the 'Enable MDM Profile' option.

If an MDM certificate already exist but it's expired then it must be renewed or a new one needs to be uploaded. To request ab MDM certificate from Apple:

  1. Log into the Admin Portal.
  2. Select Settings > System Settings > iOS > MDM.
  3. Select the Enable MDM Profile option.
  4. Click Install MDM Certificate to open the MDM Certificate Generation window.
  5. Click I want to create a new MDM certificate.
  6. Click Download Certificate Signing Request.
  7. Click the Apple Push Certificates Portal link to start the process of requesting the MDM certificate.
  8. When you receive the certificate, click Upload MDM Certificate to open the Upload MDM Certificate window.
  9.  Click Browse to select the MDM certificate.
  10. Click Upload Certificate.

For more details and a step by step please refer to the “Enabling iOS MDM support” in the MobileIron On-Premise Installation Guide and the MobileIron knowledge base document "MobileIron Cloud: Downloading and Renewing an Apple MDM Certificate". Please note that it requires signing-in.
Expected Behavior:
If MobileIron Core has Apps@Work configured and a valid Apple MDM certificate within MobileIron is used then the Apps@Work web clip will be installed by default on the user’s device after registration is complete. The user will see the default Apps@Work web clip icon, or the custom icon if the Admin has customized the app store:
