KB439194: The error "Cannot determine a unique Schema object for the object DBName of type DB instance" occurs when modifying FFSQL reports in MicroStrategy 10

Community Admin

• Strategy

This article notes an issue where the error "Cannot determine a unique Schema object for the object DBName of type DB instance" occurs while modifying FFSQL reports or doing other tasks on objects which directly use a database instance in MicroStrategy

DESCRIPTION:
In Strategy 10.x, users may see the following error after modifying a freeformSQL report using a database instance.

"Cannot determine a unique Schema object for the object DBName of type DB instance"

CAUSE:
This behavior is caused by inconsistent definition references to a database instance in Strategy 10.x. Database instances have several hidden support objects that exist including a schema object. When this error occurs a single database instance has multiple different of the same support objects leading to an inability to make a proper reference.

ACTION:
Contact Strategy Technical Support for assistance in resolving the invalid references.
